2003 Candidates

Jason Neville

Louisiana State Senator District 3

Since 1999 Jason has dedicated his life to progressive change in New Orleans, working to advance the people’s agenda from issues ranging from improved public transit to stopping unfair energy disconnects to improving environmental quality. Jason's campaign focus was to prioritize education in Louisiana and New Orleans, and to impose a moratorium on prison-building and expansion projects for youth until our schools exceed national standards.

Dan Thompson

Louisiana State Representative District 10

Dan is a former professional fisherman who, like many others, was forced out of business by both cheaper international competition and laws restricting the rights of small fisherman. An advocate of coastal restoration, Dan wants to see it enacted by Louisiana instead of the federal government. The dissapearance of the coast is a serious concern in Plaquemines as well as other coastal areas, where vanishing wetlands make southern Louisiana the fastest shrinking part of the nation.
